Wood, Price and a half-dozen other Atomic Monsters going to Hawaii

YUCCA FLATS (AP) — A grand total of 8 Yucca Flats Atomic Monsters will represent the NFC in Hawaii for the 2006 Pro Bowl.

Quarterback Ed Wood, Jr. currently leads the NFC with a passer rating of 114.7. Wood thus far as thrown for 3,054 yards (4th), 22 TDs ( 4th) and just 6 INTs (1st)

Running back Bob Burns is second in the conference with 1,386 yards rushing, 1st with 25 TDs.

Wide receiver Vincent Price caught 85 balls (2nd) for a NFC high 1,678 yards.

Wide receiver Ben Chapman has 74 receptions for 1,392 yards (3rd) and 10 TDs (same as Price)

On the offensive line, non-B-movie actor left tackle Chris Conley and center Bobby Montgomery led the NFC allowing only 1 sack apiece. They also opened holes for Bob Burns in the running attack.

Two defensive players made the squad, cornerbacks James Beck and Claude Raines. Raines led the NFC with 9 interceptions and 3 defensive touchdowns while Beck added 7 interceptions (3rd) and 3 forced fumbles.

Overlooked in the Pro-Bowl balloting was defensive tackle Tor Johnson whose 10 sacks tied him for 5th in the conference. When veteran actor Dick Van Patten was asked about the voting he responded, "Apparently, when it comes to nominating Atomic Monsters to the Pro-Bowl...Eight is Enough!" Van Patten added slyly we should look for the box set of Eight is Enough: Season One in stores now.
