Kiel, Chaney involved in locker-room brawl

The brawl between actors-turned-football players Richard Kiel (left) and Lon Chaney, Jr. ended with bitter resentment when Chaney added, "I hope they replace Roger Moore with some pretty boy bad actor and replace you with a boring villain that doesn't have metal teeth or razor-edged hats!" Harsh words indeed.

YUCCA FLATS (AP) — Atomic Monsters defensive players Richard Kiel (DT) and Lon Chaney, Jr. (LB) were reportedly involved in a physical altercation following the game Sunday. The alleged donnybrook followed challenging remarks Chaney made claiming his fictional character, the Wolfman, has a more powerful bite than that of his teammate's character Jaws from the James Bond film Moonraker.

“I'm not even sure how the argument started,” said Kiel afterward, “One minute I'm taking players tape off my hands and the next, he's goin' on about how a wolf's bite can break bones and Jaws' bite couldn't, which is ridiculous! According to witnesses, Kiel responded, “I had steel teeth! I bit through a cable in Moonraker!” To which Chaney replied, “Yeah…you BIT, alright,” Then the brawl ensued.

“The fight was awesome,” said teammate John Agar, who did not wish to be named, “It was like a scene from Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman! Chaney kept launching himself at big ol' Kiel who would then throw Chaney into the lockers! But Chaney just kept coming back for more, trying to scratch his face! It was the greatest fight I've ever seen!”

When asked about the incident, coach Brain-o told reporters, “Neither one of them's got teeth if you ask me,” referring to Chaney's 16 tackles this season (ranked fifth on the team) and Kiel's one sack (ranked last among defensive linemen).
